What is Karate?

Karate is a Japanese martial art that encompasses the development of defensive and counterattacking body maneuvers. It’s also a recognized martial art that focuses on the overall improvement of individuals, from the mental aspect to the physical aspect. True Strength MMA’s Karate program is designed to teach you the fundamentals of Karate, develop the mental discipline to succeed and to help you grow every day as a martial artist.

True Strength MMA’s American Freestyle Karate

True Strength MMA’s Karate program focuses on the instruction of American Freestyle Karate. This style of Karate is a mix of Western Boxing punches and East Asian-style kicks with the additional implementation of grappling and takedown techniques. Learning Karate at True Strength MMA will teach you how to properly defend yourself while helping you grow mentally, physically and spiritually through our rigorous training.

Belt Ranks and Promotions

At True Strength MMA, we teach true martial arts. This means we are not a black felt factory that simply takes money to give away belt ranks and certificates. The student will average 6 to 10 years to achieve the ultimate black belt. Delayed gratification is learned when a student achieves a goal through hard work. This way, they truly know they have earned their belt rank and know that they possess true skill. Promotion is based upon the dedication of the individual student. There are set requirements for each student to achieve to be eligible to test. There are 10 belts in total and there are three stripes to be earned for each belt. The stripes are an assessment of the students ability to perform rank level techniques and their ability to spar. This will exhibit that they can properly defend themselves.
